Wastewater foam problem? 4 simple steps to solve it quickly!

In the process of sewage treatment, foam problems are often a headache. Foam is mainly divided into two types:

Chemical foam - produced by detergents or surfactants under aeration and stirring.

Biological foam - caused by excessive growth of filamentous bacteria.

Don't worry! Here are 4 practical solutions to easily deal with foam problems:

1. Spray water to defoam

Spray the water surface directly with water to break up bubbles and quickly eliminate foam. Simple and efficient, suitable for emergency treatment.

2. Add chemical agents

Adding defoamers can quickly suppress foam with significant effects. However, it should be noted that long-term use may affect the sludge treatment effect, and short-term use is recommended.

3. Shorten sludge retention time

For excessive growth of actinomycetes, the sludge retention time (sludge age) of the aeration tank can be reduced to suppress foam generation.

4. Add biological carriers

Add fixed carriers to the aeration tank to allow microorganisms that are prone to foam to attach and grow. It can not only improve treatment efficiency but also reduce foam problems.

These four methods are easy to operate and you can choose the most suitable solution according to the actual situation to easily solve the sewage foam problem!
